Meet our Teachers

Miss Karen, Director

Miss Karen founded Morning Star School in 1997 after completing her accreditation in Early Childhood Education at Lake Washington Vocational Technical College. Frustrated by the lack of high quality children's services, she joined her family’s long tradition of service in the education system (her Mother and several other members of her family have been teaching in Washington State for over 70 years beginning with her Grandmother in a one room school house in Skykomish). Prior to teaching, Miss Karen had a 14 year career in Civil Engineering Graphics and holds a B.A. in Graphic Arts from Central Washington University in addition to her Accreditation in Early Childhood Education.




Miss Molly, Woodinville Site Manager

Fully accredited in early childhood education (ECE) through Lake Washington Technical College and Edmonds Community college with over 80 credits college level education.  Miss Molly holds extensive S.T.A.R.S. accreditation & CDA training with 32 hours of courses taken.  Overall, Miss Molly has 14 years of teaching experience along with two children of her own.  Miss Molly brings a solid background in preschool instruction to the program along with many years of experience in the classroom.  Miss Molly is the Woodinville Site Manager and oversees the curriculum and classroom operations.

Miss Jenn, Educator

Miss Jenn holds a B.S. in Psychology from the U.W. and an Associates of Arts from South Puget Sound Community College.  She has also completed her accredidation in ECE at Lake Washington Technical College. She has 9 years of experience working with young children in group teaching situations for preschoolers and has worked with special needs children as well.  She has extensive experience with behavioral issues in young children and is able to work with children on many different levels to help them develop successful emotional and social skills.

Miss Jamie, Educator

Miss Jamie holds an Associates in ECE through Lake Washington Technical College.  She previously taught preschool in the LWTC child care while attending courses at LWTC, and has 4 years of professional experience teacher preschool.  Miss Jamie is energetic and caring with young children.  She enjoys adding special touches for the students to explore in the different learning centers throughout the classroom.

 

Miss Sue, Educator

Miss Sue has extensive experience as an early childhood educator and has inspired many students to love learning throughout her career.  Her energy and enthusiasm for teaching is much appreciated.  She has 38 years of  experience teaching preschool and kindergarten. Miss Sue holds a B.A. degree in Home Economics with an emphasis in Child Development. She has also performed graduate work in education at California State Polytechnic University.

Miss Nichelle, Educator

Miss Nichelle holds an Associates Degree and is currently enrolled at BCC and Eastern University to complete her ECE accredidation as well as an eventual B.A. in Early Childhood Education with a Masters in Elementary School Education.  Miss Nichelle grew up in the local area and has a long time interest in pursuing teaching as a career.  Her love of children and education are a boon in the classroom.

Miss Ana, Educator

Miss Ana has 3 years of experience as a lead preschool teacher in a professional setting.  She spent 4 years as a Speech Assistant working with elementary school age groups that included leading Jr. Achievement efforts as well.  She holds an Associates Degree in Fashion Design with a background in events planning.  Miss Ana has two young children of her own and believes in making learning fun and rewarding for children as they begin their educational path.

Miss Annette, Educator

Miss Annette holds a B.A. in Education and an Associates degree in International Studies.  She has 2 years of experience teaching K-5 science, PE, and music, as well as a year of professional experience teaching in preschool classrooms.  Miss Annette has 2 children of her own, both of whom she home schooled during their elementary years.  Miss Annette's background also includes the study of the Japanese language and culinary classes in French cuisine. 

Miss Karen, Director & Educator

Miss Karen acts as a teacher/substitute as well as operating as the school Director.  Along with her education credentials (BA in Art, ECE accredidation), Miss Karen has 10 years of experience as lead teacher for ages 2 1/2 to 5.  She enjoys teaching and finds that her active participation as needed, keeps her in touch with parent and student needs within the classroom context.
